There’s something special about turning a scent into a flavor. This rose syrup started with a walk past a rose bush, and now it’s a delicious flavor in my coffee.
The Recipe
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
4 tablespoons dried rose petals
Pinch of salt
Combine the sugar, water, and rose petals in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, strain out the petals, and stir in a pinch of salt. Store in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to two weeks.
3 Ways to Use Rose Syrup
1. Rose Mocha
Add 1–2 teaspoons of rose syrup to your favorite mocha for a floral twist that pairs beautifully with chocolate.
2. Rose Matcha Latte
Stir 1 teaspoon of rose syrup into a matcha latte for a fragrant, calming drink that’s as pretty as it is delicious.
3. Rose Cold Foam Cold Brew
Froth together heavy whipping cream, whole milk, and sugar with a splash of rose syrup and spoon it over cold brew for a refreshing summer coffee.
