This brown sugar cinnamon syrup is the easiest way to level up your homemade shaken espresso. It takes just 15 minutes and works beautifully in both hot and iced drinks!
Syrup Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
3 cinnamon sticks
Pinch of salt
⅛ tsp vanilla extract (added after heat is off)
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients except vanilla in a small saucepan. Simmer for 10–15 minutes, then turn off heat and stir in vanilla. This syrup should easily last a few weeks in the fridge… if you haven't finished it before then!
How I Use This Syrup
1. Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso
Shake a double shot of espresso with 1–2 tablespoons of syrup and ice, then top with oat milk. Optional: dust with cinnamon on top. This is a personal favorite of mine and is always a 10/10.
2. Hot Brown Sugar Latte
Add 1 tablespoon of this syrup into your milk before steaming it. Combine the milk with a double shot of espresso. This is ideal for chilly mornings when you need a cozy drink.
3. Dalgona-Style Coffee
Froth together 2 tbsp instant coffee, 1 tbsp syrup, and 2 tbsp warm water until fluffy. Pour over iced or hot milk for a delicious coffee. This one is so simple and so delicious!
